CV Checklist - What to include on your resume

What to include on your CV

For a standard curriculum vitae (CV), add the following:

  1. Your name at the top

    Under your name - your physical address, your telephone numbers, your email address (s), your LinkedIn address

  2. Your skills and experience

    Include achievements relevant to the role you are applying for

    Include evidence of the competencies (skills) relevant to the role

  3. Your qualifications

    Include training courses and interests if relevant to the role

    Put your most recent qualifications first

  4. Use a simple format

    2 pages (up to 4 for an academic CV)

    Use an easily readable font

    Start with the most relevant experience first

  5. Accurate information

    No lies!

    Check spelling and grammar

    Check dates are accurate

  6. Relevant Information

    Always tailor the CV to the job you are applying for

    Use keywords from the job specification in case a database is used and your CV will not be found without the keywords, such as

    the job title
