12 Days of Free Career Resouces: Day 2 - Are You Happy and Fulfilled at Work?
Day 2 of 12 Days of Career Clarity
Are You Truly Fulfilled at Work — or Simply Coping?
One of the most common things people tell me in coaching sessions is:
“I don’t feel miserable… but I don’t feel fulfilled either.”
Fulfilment is quiet.
It doesn’t usually shout.
It drifts.
Often, we don’t notice the shift until we feel stuck, disconnected, or tired in a way rest doesn’t fix. Not unhappy — just not fully alive in our work anymore.
Today’s reflection asks a simple question:
Are you genuinely fulfilled at work — or are you coping as best you can?
What Fulfilment Really Means
Fulfilment isn’t about loving every task on your to-do list. It’s about feeling:
aligned with what matters to you
a sense of purpose or contribution
that your strengths are being used in meaningful ways
supported — not just pressured
able to feel like yourself in your work
It’s the difference between going through the motions and feeling grounded in your direction.
Signs You May Not Be as Fulfilled as You Think
Many people don’t realise they’re drifting until they see themselves in one of these:
you often feel flat or disconnected
you look forward to time away from work more than time in it
your work doesn’t feel like “you” anymore
you’ve outgrown your role but haven’t taken action
even after a break, you still feel tired
you daydream about doing something different
None of these signs mean you’re failing.
They simply mean your needs have changed — and you’re noticing.
A Simple Way to Check In
I’ve created a short quiz to help you understand:
what’s supporting your wellbeing
what’s draining you
which values may be unmet
where you might need clarity or change
It only takes a few minutes, but it can be surprisingly revealing.
