Why Work With an Interview Coach

Reaching the interview stage is exciting, but it can also be stressful — especially when you don’t know what’s holding you back. Perhaps:

  • You keep getting interviews but never get the job offer.

  • You are told you are ready for promotion and the next level, but you can’t get through the interview process.

  • You rarely receive feedback and feel unsure where you’re going wrong.

  • You dread interviews and struggle with nerves or self-confidence.

  • You’re unfamiliar with new formats like pre-recorded video interviews or virtual interviews on Zoom or Teams.

Working with an experienced interview coach provides you with practical techniques, insider tips, and personalised strategies, enabling you to stand out and succeed.

Master Every Type of Interview

The world of interviewing has changed. I’ll help you prepare and practise for:

  • Competency-based and behavioural interviews – learn how to structure your answers and showcase your strengths.

  • Situational interviews – handle hypothetical questions with confidence.

  • Pre-recorded video interviews – practise with mock recordings and review your performance.

  • Virtual and remote interviews – tips for presenting well on Zoom, Teams, and other platforms.

  • Traditional unstructured interviews – demonstrate your personality and fit.

As an Accredited Master Coach and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, I can help you:

How Interview Coaching Works

Interview coaching is most effective when you have a specific interview coming up or job roles you’d like to target. Before we meet, you will determine your interview coaching goals. We will book the appropriate session type to achieve these goals. I’ll ask you to send me a job description of a position you are either currently interviewing for, have applied for, or are planning to apply for. In that way, I can prepare and tailor the session to your needs.

Depending on your goals and priorities, during the session, we’ll cover:

  • Essential interview skills and techniques

  • How to structure strong, memorable answers

  • Mock interview practice with feedback

  • Tips for handling challenging or unexpected questions

  • Coping with interview nerves

INTERVIEW COACHING FAQ

Who is interview coaching for?

Interview coaching is for professionals at all levels who want to improve their performance and succeed at job interviews. Whether you’re:

  • Preparing for your first interview in years

  • Looking to build confidence for a promotion

  • Changing careers and unsure what to expect

  • Facing competency-based, behavioural, or pre-recorded interviews

  • Battling with interview nerves

If you feel you need personalised support to develop your interview skills and maximise your chances of success, this coaching is designed for you.

You’ll need to be open to change and willing to practise new techniques — together, we’ll work towards helping you perform at your best.

How is the interview coaching delivered?

All sessions are one-to-one coaching with Diana Dawson, an Accredited Master Coach with the Association for Coaching. I’m also a qualified Career Counsellor, an experienced Executive Coach, and a Business Psychologist with more than 20 years of experience.

Currently, sessions are delivered remotely via Zoom or Teams, giving you the flexibility to learn from the comfort of your home or office.

When can I start interview coaching?

You can start at any time, depending on availability. There’s no fixed start date — we’ll arrange a time that works for both of us.

How long does the interview coaching take?

Each session lasts 60, 90 or 120 minutes, depending on your needs, giving us plenty of time to:

  • Understand your goals and priorities

  • Discuss the different types of interviews you may face

  • Develop strategies for approaching challenging questions

  • Learn techniques for managing interview nerves

  • Practise a mock interview with constructive feedback

This structure ensures you leave the session feeling prepared, confident, and ready to succeed.

Can I arrange more interview coaching sessions if I need them?

Absolutely. We typically begin with a single session to cover the essentials and identify areas for improvement.

Many clients choose to return for:

  • Follow-up sessions to refine their answers

  • Practice sessions ahead of a specific interview

  • Ongoing support for developing long-term confidence

You can book additional sessions of 60, 90, or 120 minutes depending on your needs.

Do I need an upcoming interview to book coaching?

Not at all. While many clients come to me before an interview, coaching is also helpful if you want to:

  • Build your general interview confidence

  • Understand modern interview formats, such as video or pre-recorded interviews

  • Prepare in advance for upcoming opportunities

By investing in your skills now, you’ll feel ready whenever the right role appears.

How do I get started with interview coaching?

Getting started is easy:

  1. 📩 Contact me to arrange your first session.

  2. You will send me your CV (if you have one) and details of the role you have an interview for/applied for/the sort of role you would apply for.

  3. We’ll discuss your goals and decide which session length suits you best.

  4. I’ll send you a short preparation guide so you get the most from your session.

  5. On the day, we’ll work together to build your skills, confidence, and strategy.
