Interview Skills Coaching

Do you want to feel confident and shine at interviews?

Read on to find out how interview coaching can help you, someone in your team, or organisation, to build interview skills and ace interviews.

Do you need some coaching on interview skills?

Although you get to the interview stage, you never manage to get that job for some reason, and you do not know what you are doing wrong. It can be hard to get feedback after interviews, so having independent interview advice can be hugely helpful.

Maybe you get nervous at interviews or feel you hate them?

Do you tell yourself, “I hate interviews and I am not good at them?” Or interview nerves are an issue for you. Perhaps you freeze or clam up at the mere thought of an interview?

Perhaps you need help with different types of interviews?

You don’t know what behavioural interviewing is or what a competency-based interview is and how to answer these types of questions? Or, you have not been for an interview for a while and need to update your skills for interviews.

Or, you want to know how to approach virtual or remote interviews?

Recently the majority of interviews are virtual or remote and it is great to get some interview tips and practice at these zoom or Team interviews. You will feel ready and prepared to smash these types of interviews.

What if you could be more confident at interviews?

Interviews do not have to be something you fear or have interview nerves about. They can be enjoyable if you get the right interview skills training.

Work with me, Diana Dawson, an expert interview coach. I have years of experience in recruitment and interviewing, including working as a recruitment consultant, an internal recruiter and behavioural interviewer, and an external assessor for various organisations.

Diana’s interview skills coaching will equip you to prepare effectively for both unstructured interviews and structured interviews, such as behavioural interviewing. You will be able to approach every job interview with confidence and demonstrate your interview skills and your experience in the best possible light. If interview nerves are an issue for you, I am also a cognitive-behavioural hypnotherapist and can help you combat those nerves. Learn more about Diana here.

How does interview coaching work?

Interview coaching works best if you have an interview coming up or have job descriptions of positions you are interested in applying for. You will be asked to do some initial preparation before we meet. Depending on your needs and requirements, we would cover the following:

  • Coaching in essential interview skills, so that you feel confident in your interview

  • Techniques for managing interview nerves if that is an issue for you

  • Explaining what competency interviewing and behavioural interviewing is and how they work

  • Practice unstructured and structured interview questions, (such as behavioural interviewing), relevant to the types of positions you are being interviewed for

  • Constructive feedback on your style

  • Tips and techniques for dealing with different types of interviews

What do you get from interview coaching?

Following your session, you will have:

  • Confidence to tackle different types of interviews, such as behavioural interviewing

  • Techniques and strategies to handle interview nerves, if this is an issue for you

  • An understanding of the different types of interviews in current use, including behavioural interviews (competency interviews) and situational interviews

  • A structure for dealing with competency-based interviews

  • A checklist of what you need to do before your next interview

  • An understanding of what the most frequently used competencies are and what “good looks like” for different competencies

  • A list of the most frequently used interview questions

An interview coaching session lasts 120 minutes.

Further interview skills coaching sessions can be arranged if required. If required, Diana can also offer presentation skills coaching, if this is part of the interview process.

Sounds great! How do I book in for interview coaching?

If you require more coaching for interviews or want to practice for specific interviews, coaching can be 60, 90, or 120-minute sessions

Need more help to combat interview nerves?

If you are struggling with nerves at interview, I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for interview nerves.

We will work together for 3-5 x 1 hour sessions.

How is the interview skills coaching delivered?

All the coaching is one-to-one with Diana Dawson, an Accredited Master Coach with the Association of Coaching. Diana is also a qualified Career Counsellor, an experienced Career and Executive Coach and a qualified Business Psychologist.

Coaching is currently delivered remotely by Zoom, Skype or telephone.

Is there a specific start date, or can I start the coaching at any time?

Depending on your and Diana’s availability, you can start at any time.

Yes. We start with one session and see how you get on. Sometimes people come for a general session and return later to practise for an interview that is coming up.
